Pamoja Nursing Program
This program is modeled after successful programs at Dalhousie University such as the Transition Year Program (TYP), the former School of Nursing Etowa program, the Indigenous Black and Mi’kmaq Initiative (IB&M), and Promoting Leadership in Health for African Nova Scotians (PLANS). The Pamoja Nursing Program fosters a cohort of incoming Black students across nursing programs and institutions.
Program activities include a nursing school primer, academic workshops, and mentorship meet-ups. The program leverages existing national partnerships and collaborations such as the University of Regina SSHRC Project with Dr. Florence Luhanga and the Black Youth Mentorship with Dr. Bukola Salami. This program begins as a pilot program at Dalhousie University School of Nursing in Fall 2024.
